“When I discovered your words, I devoured them.
They are my joy and my heart’s delight,
for I bear your name,
    Lord God of Heaven’s Armies.

Jeremiah 15:16 New Living Translation

Remember as a child when you first toasted marshmallows? In order to have a successful, golden brown, marshmallow there were some guidelines given to you:

  • Stay a safe distance from the fire so you won’t get burned.
  • Place your marshmallow firmly on your stick so it won’t fall into the fire.
  • Watch what you are doing so your marshmallow won’t go up in flames.

After some practice you learned exactly what it took to make the perfect toasted marshmallow.

Scripture contains many guidelines for a successful life in Christ. If we stray from His plans we often get burnt, and our goals, and desires, may go up in flames. We need God’s word, wisdom, and guidance to create a meaningful life with Him.

So take time each day to read Scripture, and heed His wisdom, and the principles, that Christ has given you. Your plans will turn out golden with Him beside you.

“Jesus replied, ‘But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.’ ”
Luke 11:28 New Living Translation
