Hidden

When no one else sees you.

Your first glance at this photo might not reveal what I was trying to get a picture of.  You see the white rock in the background, the turned over flowerpot on the left, or the bright colored jewels in the front. They are all interesting features that catch the eye and force your mind to place them into context. However, this picture is of the frog right at the center of it all.  Did you see him? Would you have noticed he was there if I didn’t tell you?

For you have died and your life is hidden with Christ in God
Colossians 3:3 New American Standard Bible

298I’m a lot like this frog. What I do daily isn’t very remarkable. I don’t shine like those jewels. I can sing, play instruments, act, and create works of art but I’m no virtuoso. I run but I’m neither the fastest nor the one with most endurance. My looks and abilities are average. I blend in.

Yet the frog in my tank, not the smartest creature in there, serves a purpose.  If I look it up there’s not much information.  Basically he swims around eating things smaller than himself or sleeps for several hours.  Still he is there for a reason.  He is social and plays around with the fish in the tank.  Watching him act silly brings joy to me and my family.

God reminds us,

Whatever you do, do your work heartily, as for the Lord rather than for men,”
Colossians 3:23 New American Standard Bible

We are not here to stand out among mankind, but to please Christ whom we serve.  It is God who delights in us and we exist for His pleasure. Others around us may not notice what we do or even that we are here, but God does.  If you feel hidden, do not despair, the only one who matters sees you, knows you and loves you.  And,

“When Christ, who is our life, is revealed, then you also will be revealed with Him in glory.”
Colossians 3:4 New American Standard Bible
