The Autumn of our Lives

A new life in Christ awaits!

For all creation is waiting eagerly for that future day when God will reveal who his children really are. Against its will, all creation was subjected to God’s curse. But with eager hope, the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.

For we know that all creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.  And we believers also groan, even though we have the Holy Spirit within us as a foretaste of future glory, for we long for our bodies to be released from sin and suffering.

We, too, wait with eager hope for the day when God will give us our full rights as his adopted children, including the new bodies he has promised us.”
Romans 8:19-23 New Living Translation

Fall is my favorite season. I love the changing of the colors, the cooler temperatures, the fallen leaves under my feet. Yet fall, even though it is beautiful, is really preparation for the decay of creation and death that comes with winter. The Romans passage declares that the creation looks forward to the day when it will join God’s children in glorious freedom from death and decay.

We are living in our own fall season on this earth. We experience sin and suffering, and long for the future glory and the new life Christ has promised us. Yet we have that promise now!  Christ Jesus rose from the dead, making us His children who have inherited a life with Him for all eternity. We look forward to joining Him in that new life! Until that season arrives, praise God in this season for His blessings!

I long, yes, I faint with longing to enter the courts of the Lord.
With my whole being, body and soul,
I will shout joyfully to the living God.”

Psalm 84:2 New Living Translation
