Our Mist-erious God

Entering into renewed Awe.

A thick fog seeped into our area of Colorado over the last couple of days. It heavily flocked the trees in breath taking beauty and forced us to slow down and take it in with only a few feet of road visible in front of our vehicles as we traveled. The out of the ordinary beauty this lingering frozen mist created was awe-some.

Sometimes in our relationship with God we can get into a place of boring clarity. We may be well grounded in doctrine and know our way around the scriptures. Our spiritual life may be routine serving at church and having regular Bible study, but some of us in this place have lost an awe in our spirits towards God. Sometimes a “know-it-all” mindset can creep in and desensitize us to the great and deep beauty of the God we are getting to know.

Like the mist that concealed this road ahead filling it with mystery, our spiritual paths lead us into similar places with God. There is so much more of Him to discover and He longs to lead us deeper into His heart. Don’t you long to go there? He loves to honor the prayers of the hungry-for-Him if we dare to ask Him.

Oh, deep and awesome God! lead us on into more of You that we may stand in renewed Awe of Your beauty!

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.  I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people,  and his incomparably great power for us who believe.
