Plugging into God.

On a trip recently, I was amused by this table of phones charging. It was a lonely table with no people, just cell phones beside a glass emptied of its wine. You can see on one of the phones that it is almost eleven o’clock in the evening. These phones have had a long hard day, and they need to charge up or they won’t be ready for the next thing. This charging table will only help them for a short time, though. They are not plugged in where they can get a lasting charge. This place can only offer a temporary boost of energy, since they will soon have to be unplugged and moved elsewhere.
We too tend to plug into places that only offer us a temporary or partial charge. Spending time with friends and family, getting in a good workout, sitting down to read a book alone, eating a carefully planned energy boosting diet, or even getting to bed earlier are all good things that can help us gain some energy, but none of these are lasting.
There is only one way to achieve the stamina that lasts. One thing gives us enough to get through a long day of work, a hard day of play, or a lifetime of roller coaster events.
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
Isaiah 40:28-31 New International Version
Plug into God’s Word, spend quality time with Him, and lean on Him when you are weary. He alone provides the full energy you need for each day.
