Upheld

Leaning on Him.

This is my sweet middle-little, Noelle. She had a corrective surgery for her hip dysplasia a couple of weeks ago. She needs to keep weight off of her right hip for six weeks and is relying on crutches and a wheel chair to get around and allow her bone to heal. She’s a strong young person, but getting up on her feet immediately after the surgery was difficult. Feeling ill and weak from anesthesia and pain meds made the task all the more challenging. The physical therapist was patient and gentle, yet firm. Noelle needed to get up and move through the pain, and the therapist’s love and support helped her to be victorious.

A few weeks before the surgery I began reading this verse to Noelle before bedtime, to get it into her heart before the dreaded day.

“So do not fear, for I am with you;
    do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and help you;
    I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 41:10 New International Version

God is faithful. He will always uphold us when we lean into Him and trust Him, like Noelle trusts her crutches. When we are weak, exhausted, sick, hobbled, or when life is a battle, He is patient and will uphold those who lean on Him. It has been true for Noelle and our whole family. It was true for the Israelites and Christians throughout history. And it is true for you, too.
