My niece had no problem standing in front of this menacing-looking dinosaur. Even though it looked scary, she wanted to pose for a photo. It didn’t bother her to lean against it. She had no fear.

Of course, the dinosaur was only a statue. It wasn’t real, but there are many real “dinosaurs” lurking right behind us every day. Texting drivers, suicide bombers, epic floods, wildfires, friends who betray us, scammers, cancer, and unhealthy pleasures are everywhere. There is so much disaster and evil in the world. However, it is our response to every adversity that is of the utmost importance.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.”
2 Timothy 1:7 New Living Translation

I have met people who are so afraid of what might happen tomorrow, that they can barely live today. I’ve also met those who scarcely give fear a thought, they just know Christ will take care of them no matter what happens. They know who God is, and because of Him they have His perfect peace in their hearts.

 “For God has said,
“I will never fail you.
    I will never abandon you.”

So we can say with confidence,
“The Lord is my helper,
so I will have no fear.
What can mere people do to me?”
Hebrews 13:5-7 New Living Translation

There are many Bible verses that encourage us not to be afraid, but to trust God in everything. Seek God’s Word out when you are afraid. Don’t allow fear to rule you! Have confidence in the Lord that he will never abandon you. He will care for you no matter what happens. Face each day triumphantly in faith in Christ our Savior!

Such people will not be overcome by evil.
Those who are righteous will be long remembered.
 They do not fear bad news;
they confidently trust the Lord to care for them.
They are confident and fearless
and can face their foes triumphantly.”
Psalm 112:6-8 New Living Translation
